12th December 2019: Walter Smith III & Matthew Stevens IN COMMON 2 – coming April 2020 – with Micah Thomas, Linda May Han Oh and Nate Smith

“Walter and I had been talking about putting a recording session together” explains Stevens, “and decided to go into the studio with music that could be quickly interpreted with an interesting group of musicians and to let it unfold naturally from there.” The resulting sessions yielded an unaffected and dynamic recording by a group of peers sharing a mutual musical vocabulary. “Part of the basis for the project was to write relatively simple music,” says Smith. “The idea of simplicity downplayed individual ownership which was liberating.” 

Following the international acclaim of their debut album IN COMMON, the duo of saxohonist Walter Smith III and guitarist Matthew Stevens are back with a new set of music in 2020, continuing the concept of their first album while featuring a new rhythm section in pianist Micah Thomas, bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Nate Smith.  The band has plans for two European tours, some USA dates and will be released on 180 gram Limited Edition Vinyl, CD and DL in April.
