1st September 2016: Tonight: Partikel’s Duncan Eagles launches ‘Inventions & Dimensions’ at the RamJam Club, Kingston + Preview in Jazzwise Magazine
Tonight saxophonist Duncan Eagles is set to present a new weekly evening (Thursday) of exciting contemporary music at the Ram Jam Club at the Grey Horse pub, Kingston Upon Thames.
‘Inventions & Dimensions‘ will bring musicians from all over London as well as international touring musicians and will also act as a platform for local musicians to perform and develop original projects. There will be opportunities for younger aspiring musicians to take part in jam sessions and to fill support slots for selected shows.
The venue has long hosted jazz nights and was where Eagles first launched his acclaimed Partikel trio (pictured above) with bassist Max Luthert and drummer Eric Ford seven years ago. The forthcoming programme will feature similarly progressive new and established bands.
“The Ram Jam club is the place where Partikel first started to play over seven years ago. In a way this club was the reason why the band formed and since then has become my main creative outlet as a musician so it is great to now be involved in getting this night going. There are a lot of local workshops and music educational courses happening so we really want to encourage this and generally just open up another performance opportunity.” Duncan Eagles
The programme starts tonight with an opening Jam Session and is followed by Max Luthert’s Orbital on September 8th and Preston Glasgow Lowe on September 15.
Next month’s programme will feature Partikel (with Ant Law) and later this year there will be appearances by The Andrew Bain Group featuring Jon Irabagon, George Colligan and Michael Janisch (November 3) and The Andre Canniere Group featuring Tori Freestone, Ivo Neame , Michael Janisch, Ted Poor and Brigitte Beraha (November 10).
