Drummer Rudy Royston has honed a thoroughly engaging voice as a composer and bandleader, as well as being celebrated collaborator across a host of musical worlds. He first found his voice with trumpeter Ron Miles, with whom he has played since 1991. Since a move to New Jersey in 2006, Royston has performed with world-renowned artists such as Bill Frisell, Les McCann, David Gilmore, Ben Allison, Jason Moran, JD Allen, Sean Jones, Jeremy Pelt, Greg Osby, Jennifer Holiday, Tia Fuller, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Bowen, Bruce Barth, Jenny Scheinman, John Patitucci, Dave Douglas, Branford Marsalis, Rudresh Mahanthappa and The Mingus Big Band. He has also released three albums as a leader.
