14th May 2020: Rudresh Mahanthappa’s ‘Hero Trio’ (out June 19th) featured in WGBO Jazz & interview on Jazziz Daily Brunch

Anticipation is building for Rudresh Mathanthappa‘s Hero Trio release on Whirlwind Recordings (out June 19th).

On Hero Trio, his sixteenth release as a leader/co-leader, Rudresh has moved the focus away from his own compositions to pay tribute to his greatest influences with an album of interpretations, enlisting the talents of long-time associates François Moutin on bass and Rudy Royston on drums.

Rudresh recently spoke to Jazziz about the upcoming release, which you can view above. ‘I’ll Remember April’ from the album was also premiered on WBGO as part of their ‘Take Five’ series (full feature).
