ROBERT MITCHELL – NEW ALBUM:
THE GLIMPSE (18.2.2013)
The album was the first to be recorded on the great Steinway D piano, at the Capstone Theatre, Liverpool, UK. The recording was produced by Pat Thomas (a leading light of the European Improv scene), and also recorded and mastered by the brilliant engineer Roland Clarke.
There will be some photo and video posts from this.
Many thanks to Neil Campbell for all his help and running one of the best new venues in the UK. The Capstone is one of a very few UK Steinway Schools. They therefore have a number of great Steinway pianos, both grand and upright, for these lucky students to use.
There will also be a special pre-release announcement soon, and a special preview on the album itself. Please join twitter for this (see the last note on this newsletter below)

LEFTITUDE 2013 – A VERY SPECIAL UPDATE
A brand new first. A festival of solo piano – performed by the left hand only! The brilliant venue – The Forge (Camden, London) – is where it will happen on 20+21March 2013. This also uniquely features performers from both the Jazz and Classical worlds : Clare Hammond, Ivo De Greef, Pat Thomas, and Robert Mitchell (Creator/ Curator/ Co-Artistic Director). There will be some interviews to begin the evening at 7pm, with the music starting at 7.45pm.
We are fantastically pleased to announce that the brilliant young pianist and recent media star Nicholas McCarthy (recently seen on Channel 4, Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony, BBC Piano Season Gala Concert) – will be hosting each night. He will also interview some of the artists onstage, and will be co-artistic director for subsequent editions of Leftitude. A performance in the second edition is also being planned! As the only graduate of the Royal College Of Music in its history – for left hand only piano repertoire – its a huge honour for us.
The new website is now live !!! leftitudefestival.com/
To register, please signup there – and be the first to receive info and special offers. The new twitter link for the festival is here: twitter.com/leftitudefest

ROBERT MITCHELL’S PANACEA@
LONDON JAZZ FEST 2012 – ON THE BBC
Robert Mitchell’s Panacea took part in the London Jazz Festival 2012.
Both at Charlie Wrights, and the Clore Ballroom (Royal Festival Hall)
The second of these will be broadcast on BBC radio (after having been beamed across Europe first). This is on the programme: Jazz Line Up (2nd Dec 11.15pm ) : www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p2q2h
The show is presented by Kevin Le Gendre – a brilliant lecturer, journalist, reviewer and historian. (My very first radio interview was given on his sadly missed programme – Nows The Time – on BBC Radio London). A huge thanks to him and Keith Loxam. There will be an opportunity to catch this again on iplayer thereafter as well.
The line up for all this: RM (piano), Deborah Jordan (Vocals), Tom Mason (Bass), Laurie Lowe (Drums).
