25th November 2013: Reviews from Marlbank, London Jazz News and Bebop Spoken Here for Rachael Cohen’s Debut Release ‘Halftime’

Rachael Cohen last week released her debut album Halftime on WWR and already we have reviews in from Marlbank and London Jazz News, with London Jazz News describing Rachael playing as “fluent, contained and thoughtful, her tone an affecting warble, gentle and confiding in its quieter moments, but hardening where required to enable her to explore all the various nooks and crannies of her melodic, carefully wrought themes.” The review also announces that “on the evidence of this wholly entertaining, absorbing album, (Rachael is) a considerable compositional and instrumental talent.”

We also have a review from Bebop Spoken Here who states the album as “Another CD of the Year contender. I give up – the standard this year is just so high!”
