11th November 2013: Review for The Aruán Ortiz and Michael Janisch Quintet’s ‘Banned in London’ from Skremsky Reviews
The Aruán Ortiz / Michael Janisch Quintet released Banned in London back in 2012 which now boasts a plethora of praising reviews from critics including a 4 1/2 star review from Downbeat Magazine and 4 star reviews from Jazzwise Magazine, Marlbank, The Financial Times, The Winnipeg Free Press, The Irish Times and Cuadernos de Jazz.
In today we have yet another review for the release from the US Skremsky Reviews who states that “The London audience only got to experience this excellent music once. At home, you have the luxury of savoring this set over and over, and I urge you to do so. Definitely recommended.”
The album features Aruán Ortiz on piano, Michael Janisch on double bass, Greg Osby on saxophone, Raynald Colom on trumpet and Rudy Royston on drums, with the band noted by BBC Radio 3 as “a 5 Star transatlantic group… it’s jazz as a truly global art form.”
