14th January 2022: ‘Orange Crush’ – the first single from Walter Smith III and Matthew Stevens’ ‘In Common III’ is out now

The first single from Walter Smith III and Matthew Stevens‘ forthcoming album In Common III is released today.

Written in March 2020, ‘Orange Crush’ serves as a kind of overture for In Common III. Orbiting around a simple melody being twisted and rung out by members Matthew Stevens and Kris Davis, the rest of the band (Smith, Terri Lyne Carrington and Dave Holland) lay a heavy, layered groove and questioning melody that sets the tone for the 15 track third instalment of In Common.
