Below we have featured the latest news entry from the website of trumpeter, trombonist and vocalist Nick Vayenas:

“Had a great tour of the UK and Ireland with Michael Buble in June and July.  We played 10 sold out shows at the O2 arena in London and 5 in Dublin.  The new set design for the show is amazing, featuring a giant high def video screen and revolving stage.  I was also thrilled to play gigs of my own at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s jazz club and Archduke jazz club.  Now i’m back in NYC till late August and doing some gigs in the city.  I’ll be on the Today Show with Michael on August 9th, playing the outdoor stage.  Then August 20 I will be performing with my trio at the great initimate jazz club La Lanterna in the west village.  Two days later I am happy to be performing with my friend saxophonist Patrick Cornelius for his CD release show at the Kitano Jazz Club on Park Ave in midtown.”  

Nick released his self-titled album last year which was well received by press and critics, with Nick being noted by The New York Times as “A resourceful young improviser” and receiving 4 stars from Jazz Journal who say that “this is one of the most impressive of recent Whirlwind issues, showcasing a multi-talented individual likely to appeal to a wide constituency of jazz fans.”  The album featured star performers in Lionel Loueke, Kendrick Scott and Patrick Cornelius.
