1st October 2013: Mike Gibbs Featured on German Radio + Interview with Phil Robson from Sound Cellar
In today, we have news of airplay for Mike Gibbs latest release Mike Gibbs +12 Play Music of Gil Evans as well as an interview with Phil Robson from SoundCellar.
The airplay for Mike Gibbs comes from WDR 3 radio in Germany, with part of the playlist viewable below. Mike Gibb’s album has only just been released and so far has received many glowing reviews from critics, including six 4 star reviews and has been described as by Marlbank as “one of the most significant releases of the year so far.”
Guitarist Phil Robson recently carried out an interview with SoundCellar, which gives insight to his approach to playing guitar and ways of composing. The interview can be viewed here in it’s entirety.
Phil will be performing at the first ever Whirlwind Festival on 11th October at the Kings Place, starting at 1.10pm with Phil’s IMS Quintet. They will be performing compositions from Phil’s debut WWR release ‘The Immeasurable Code’. In this line up is the award winning flautist Gareth Lockrane alongside one of the most iconic saxophonists in UK history, Stan Sulzmann, and also features the world renowned virtuoso drumming of Cuban-Born Ernesto Simpson (Richard Bona, Gonzalo Rubalcaba) and WWR’s own founder and first-call bassist Michael Janisch.
