17th December 2021: ‘Marivi’: the first single from Marta Sanchez’ forthcoming album ‘SAAM’ released today | Pre-order the full album now

The first single from Marta Sanchez‘ album SAAM (Spanish American Art Museum) is released today.

‘Marivi’ features Ambrose Akinmusire and Camila Meza, and offers a warm tribute to Sanchez’s mother, who died during lockdown.

Marta says: “I wrote ‘Marivi’ after I had finished writing all the music for the record. My mom, Marivi, passed away in December 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions I could not travel to Spain before or after that date. I thought so much about everything I would have loved to tell her and never did. This song is a homage to her, and a way to tell her what I could not tell her in person. I am so happy I could have such sensitive musicians as Camila Meza and Ambrose Akinmusire on this track. Their playing is just beautiful. Camila told me that my mom visited her in a dream and I know it is true, because she brought her love and energy to the song.”
