Josephine Davies’ Weatherwards is a deeply personal and evolving musical statement, inspired by her Shetland roots. Her Satori project, now in its seventh year, expands with the addition of pianist Alcyona Mick, enriching the band’s harmonic and textural palette. The album’s compositions reflect Shetland’s landscapes and history, blending jazz improvisation with folk influences. Tracks range from swinging tributes to her childhood home to freeform explorations of Shetland’s caves and festivals. Weatherwards marks a bold progression in Davies’ work, demonstrating her mastery of improvisation, storytelling, and ensemble interplay—making it an immersive listening experience.
