Jochen Rueckert was born in 1975 near Koeln, Germany and started playing drums at age six. In 1995 he moved to NYC, where he lives now.
Jochen is mostly known for his work in the last 15 years of the Marc Copland trio, the mid-2000 Kurt Rosenwinkel New Quartet, all of Nils Wogram’s Root 70, the Sam Yahel piano trio and lately Seamus Blake and Chris Cheek’s band “Reed’s Ramble”, his electronic music programmed under the alias “Wolff Parkinson White” as well as his series of ebooks aptly titled “Read the Rueckert- travel observations and pictures of hotel rooms”. Jochen has been leading his own Quartet with Lage Lund, Mark Turner, and Matt Penman, playing his originals since 2009. Jochen has performed all over the world including Newport, North Sea, Barcelona Voll Damm, Berlin, Istanbul Akbank, and Port-au Prince jazz festivals.
