Jamire Williams

Jamire-Williams

Profile

Held as one of the leading creative voices of his generation, Jamire Williams has worked with a plethora of significant figures in art and music. From legends such as Herbie Hancock and Dr. Lonnie Smith to contemporaries like Robert Glasper and Christian Scott. From the young soul cultivator Solange Knowles to the likes of pop figure John Mayer. Luminaries like musician/visual artist/curator Jason Moran to the genre bending composer Chassol. From classic producer/songwriter Glen Ballard to the beat king Madlib. They can all attest to the divine gift Jamire Williams holds.

His project ERIMAJ was the first manifestation of Williams stepping out and leading, letting his voice truly be heard. A vision described by the New York Times as “music…properly new, part of something larger, and still unnamed.” With their first EP, Memo To All, introducing their sound to the world, ERIMAJ released a critically acclaimed album, Conflict Of A Man, produced entirely by him and is heralded as an “instant classic” by underground music lovers. This since has led to the lead single being featured on several web series and TV programs including HBO’s break out series Insecure. Williams has left a true impression for displaying a cinematic sonic approach while evoking a distinctive drum sound that is solely him.

The latest presentation ///// EFFECTUAL encompasses his full creative being. It is not just an album, it is a statement. A conversation piece. “Jamire Williams shows himself to be an inspired crafter of sound, capable of building entire worlds from just his drum hits.” – Pitchfork

Though it can be viewed as a concept drum record, the incorporation of his own painting collaborations as the cover art, the exhibit show that was held for the release, the creative partnership with the label Leaving Records, it all gives light to the fact that Williams is constantly evolving and pushing the culture.
