7th November 2019: Ingrid and Christine Jensen lead Whirlwind Jazz Orchestra on tour starting November 14th.
From the 14th – 23rd November, Juno and Grammy award-winning Christine (Alto and soprano sax) and Ingrid Jensen (trumpet) present an exciting programme of jazz compositions featuring the Whirlwind Jazz Orchestra.
Over the past twenty years or so, as trumpeter and saxophonist respectively, the West Canadian sisters have each shaped a prolific career in contemporary jazz, collaborating with influential names such as Clark Terry, Maria Schneider and Terry Lynn Carrington, working with large and small ensembles, and responding to various commissions to compose for jazz orchestras around the globe.
Their unique sound defies convention with eclectic blend of influences, ranging from traditional jazz and classical music to American folk and the avant-garde. The show features original and arranged compositions from both Christine and Ingrid (with a focus on their Whirlwind Recordings release Infinitude), performed by an ensemble of leading musicians from the UK, Europe and the US all with a strong association with the Whirlwind Recordings label.
