11th May 2020: ICYMI Satori’s ‘Wabi Sabi’ featured as Jazziz ‘Song of the Day’ + trio to release How Can We Wake? on October 9th 2020

Satori’s ‘Wabi Sabi’ was featured as Wednesday’s ‘Song of the Day’ on Jazziz (full feature). Inspired by the all-encompassing Japanese philosophy that celebrates the beauty of interpretation, the track appears on Satori’s album, In the Corners of Clouds, which is available: here.

Off the back of this feature, we’re pleased to announce that How Can We Wake?, the third album from saxophonist Josephine Davies and her trio Satori, will be released on Whirlwind Recordings on October 9th 2020. This inimitable and dynamic trio is led by Davies, a former Parliamentary Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year winner. Inspired by the writings of the Indian sage Patanjali, this suite of pieces features Davies’ continued development as a composer and improviser as much as a saxophonist. Recorded live in the atmospheric setting of North London’s Oxford Tavern and featuring the superbly intricate musicianship of drummer James Maddren and bassist Dave Whitford, the album showcases Satori at their most beautifully creative and magical.
