Scottish bassist Euan Burton hits the road for an album launch tour this May in 2012 across the UK, and the dates are now made official here at WWR in the EVENTS section of the site. The band features the same personnel as on his WWR release ‘Occurrences‘ which is no small feat as each of the band members are hugely in demand, not to mention live in various countries around the world. So it will be a very special occasion to have them all hit the UK shores this May. ‘Occurrences’ has been generating a great deal of buzz and the hits to the album page have been some of the highest traffic this site has seen since the preview music clips have gone up about a month ago. Featuring a suite of seven compositions all masterfully penned by Burton himself, the music carries a thread of elegance and thematic material that takes the listener on a sonic journey as soon as the first notes are played. Moreover, the ‘sound’ on this album really stands out. Not only are the musicians on this album masters of their respective instruments, such as the infectious Alto Saxophonist and NYC resident Will Vinson, but the actual production of this album is second to none and worthy of special mention. The album was recorded at the famed Castle Sound Studios (Whirlwind Recordings personal favorite studio to record creative music in the UK) on the eastern coast of Scotland in a beautiful historic town called Pencaitland. After a pristine mix by Stuart Hamilton, the album was finished off by our own in house sound expert and 3 time grammy nominated engineer Tyler McDiarmid in the Big Apple, and the resulting CD is nothing short of sonic brilliance, and with one second of the album playing you’ll hear this. One of our main goals here at Whirlwind is to pay special attention to the ‘sound’ of our recordings and to raise the bar across the industry in a world of record labels spewing out albums at such a fast pace that one can really hear the poor attention to detail, especially in the sound of the albums. Not us. Every single WWR album is produced at a pace that allows us to bring out the best possible sound quality, and it’s just as important to us as the actual music itself. On ‘Occurrences’ the sonic bar is certainly raised, and we invite you to hear for yourself when it releases on May 14.
