7th December 2013: Glowing Review from The New York City Jazz Record for Patrick Cornelius’ 2nd WWR Release ‘Infinite Blue’
Today we have a glowing review from The New York City Record for Patrick Cornelius’ second release on WWR – Infinite Blue. The review calls Patrick “a rhythmically sophisticated player” and describes the playing on the album with great affection in stating that “It’s neither a stretch nor blasphemy to say that, in its sextet format, this band brings to mind the Jazz Messengers or one of Blue Note’s landmark LPs.”
The review also defines the release as “an inspired and reverent tip of the cap to the innovators and stalwarts who moved jazz forward. Cornelius and his bandmates not only support and extend this tradition, they’re now a viable part of it” continuing with saying that “this album ensures that they can stand tall and proud beside all of the great bands they salute.”
The album features a stellar line up with Patrick Cornelius (alto Saxophone), Frank Kimbrough (piano), Michael Janisch (bass), Jeff Ballard (drums). To check out samples of the release and to purchase please visit the album page.
