18th April 2012: Euan Burton gets his first RAVE review for ‘Occurrences’ from ‘Bebop Spoken Here….’
Double Bassist and Composer Euan Burton is one of the most well known and hardest working of Scottish Jazz musicians, providing a solid foundation for a plethora of artists across the UK, while leading his own bands as a notable bandleader with a knack for writing strong melodies. He’s known across the pond as well, having embarked on many a sojourn to New York City, while forging lasting musical relationships over the years with the likes of Ari Hoenig, Gilad Hekselman, Will Vinson and guitarist Jonathan Kreisburg, resulting in frequent tours with musicians of this caliber across Europe.
On May 14th of 2012, we’re releasing Burton’s debut WWR album ‘Occurrences‘ which has been getting a huge amounts of hits since we’ve put the album page up a little over a month ago. The album features a Seven-Song-Suite penned by Burton himself, and a bumper crop of some of the creative music world’s most celebrated young artists in Will Vinson on saxophones, Steve Hamilton on Piano and Fender Rhodes, WWR artist Mark McKnight on guitar (who turns in some stellar performances), and James Maddren on drums. Thematic material stemming from Burton’s own life coinciding with strong, memorable melodies dominate the album, and Burton’s bass weaves the Suite together with strength and grace. The sound on this record is impeccable, and really raises our own standards here at WWR, just listen to the previews on his ALBUM page to hear for yourself. It’s also worth noting that there are now still a handful advance copies left before we officially release in UK stores and Digital formats (excluding streaming sites) worldwide on the 14th.
As you can see, we have a flyer above which also gives information about Burton’s CD launch tour (you can also visit the EVENTS section) which features the members from the album– no small feat as these individuals maintain hectic international touring schedules throughout the year.
We’re really excited to be able to report that Euan’s press campaign for ‘Occurrences’ is now underway and he’s had his first glowing review from the popular UK jazz blog site ‘Bebop Spoken Here‘ This is a great start and no doubt just the beginning. Stay tuned for more, and pick up a copy of Occurrences today.
