22nd June 2022: Announcing ‘Sisu’ by Kristjan Randalu and New Wind Jazz Orchestra – coming September 30

We’re thrilled to be releasing world-renowned pianist Kristjan Randalu’s newest project – Sisu – with New Wind Jazz Orchestra this autumn.

Sisu will be released September 30 and available on CD/DL/180gram Limited Edition 2xLP.

Kristjan says:

“My very first steps as a jazz pianist were in a big band. Ever since, I’ve played in numerous bands although this role has not been among my favorites. Usually the horns are covering all the musically necessary elements and as a rhythm section player one has to find the spaces and gaps. Therefore also as a composer I have rather preferred classical formations in which no amplification is necessary.

The initiative to write a full program of my music for big band came from Lauri Kadalipp, the artistic director of NWJO, and now I feel like having come full circle to the very beginning of what made me get involved in jazz in the first place. This is the biggest production for me as a leader so far and the process has been an incredible team synergy.”
