Jazz trumpeter Alexandra Ridout is a UK-born musician currently based in New York City. Winner of the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award, she has since garnered accolades including the British Jazz Awards Rising Star, the Laurie Frink Career Grant, and 2nd place in the Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition.
Alexandra’s career took off after her BBC win, leading to appearances at top UK venues, including the BBC Proms, and performances with Clark Tracey, Guy Barker’s Big Band, Yazz Ahmed, and Matthew Herbert. Her music has been featured on BBC Radio 3, Jazz FM, and across Europe and the USA.
Since moving to the USA, she has toured with Renee Rosnes’ Artemis, Orlando Le Fleming’s Romantic Funk, and Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, while performing at Birdland, Dizzy’s, and the Kennedy Center. Alexandra also frequently collaborates with Kit Downes and saxophonist Alex Hitchcock.
