18th December 2012: WWR boss Michael Janisch receives PRS for Music Foundation Grant in support of upcoming Walter Smith III Project.
Exciting news comes to us today as WWR’s founder and international renowned bassist and composer Michael Janisch receives a prestigious and highly sought-after grant from the PRS for Music Foundation in support of his upcoming UK tour with one of the preeminent saxophonists of his generation, Walter Smith III, (who also appears on Michael’s debut album Purpose Built, the first album we released here at WWR). This will also be the first headlining tour by Walter in the UK (he’s usually seen touring with Blue Note artist Ambrose Akinmusire), and we’ve just heard word that the tour was previewed in the Guardians’ end of the year wrap-up here.
PRS for Music Foundation is the UK’s leading funder of new music across all genres, and their mission is to stimulate and support the creation and performance of new music to ensure it is enjoyed by as wide an audience as possible.
We’ve printed the tour poster below which shows all the amazing venues the band will take in on the tour as they perform a new program of music across 11 concert dates and 2 masterclasses. For more information, please visit Janisch’s website, and hope to see you at one of the shows! Congrats to MJ!
