5th July 2022: Introducing saxophonist and composer Hannes Bennich and his debut ‘When Losing A Dream To Reality’ – dropping October 28
We’re happy to announce the debut album from Swedish alto saxophonist and composer Hannes Bennich and his release – When Losing A Dream To Reality – this autumn.
Hannes Bennich is one of the most interesting new voices on the Scandinavian jazz scene. After getting his bachelor degree at Malmö Music Academy he quickly established himself as a saxophonist with a unique sound and technical freedom, and a composer with a penchant for dramatic themes full of rhythmical whimsy.
When Losing A Dream To Reality is Hannes Bennich’s debut album with music inspired by dreams. The record also features Stockholm-based pianist/composer Britta Virves and bassist Tomas Sjödell as well as Danish drummer Emil Norman. Special guest vocalist Helen Salim also joins the lineup for one track.
The music represents the anxiety, beauty, hope and disappointment that a dream can give. As soon as a dream is fulfilled you can no longer shape it. The dream is now reality and out of your control. It’s terrifying and beautiful at the same time.
Hannes says: “I can barely describe how happy I am to finally get this release out there. I’m very grateful Whirlwind Recordings believe in my music and I can’t wait for people to hear the album.”
When Losing A Dream To Reality will be released October 28 and available on DL, CD and Limited Edition LP – stay tuned for preorder info, tour dates and more.
