‘Red Cross’, the latest single from Rudresh Mahanthappa‘s Hero Trio, is released today. The Charlie Parker tune was one of the first that Rudresh ever learned, and the trio give it a thorough rework. On the track, Rudresh says: “It’s been interesting for me to take things apart – we play the melody divided into three different sections that are really three different moods, but it felt really natural at the same time.”

The track, which features drummer Rudy Royston and bassist Francois Moutin, premiered on Modern Drummer magazine’s website yesterday – check it out in full over on their site.
