4th April 2014: 4 Star Review from Jazzwise for Nia Lynns’s Bannau Trio

Nia Lynn’s Bannau Trio have received a 4 star review that featured recently in Jazzwise Magazine. The trio, led by singer Nia Lynn and supported by pianist Ross Stanley and flautist Gareth Lockrane, released their album on WWR in late 2013 to great praise.

This latest review states that the album “presents intimate chamber jazz of an extremely high order” and that the track ‘Upon the Hill’ is “a stand-out which features imaginative solos from Stanley and Lockrane”, which is the same track that features esteemed British jazz singer Norma Winstone who also serves as the inspiration for the trios original forming. 

The review concludes by saying that “this superbly recorded and enchantingly intimate collection of songs is further testimony to the all-inclusive aesthetic of Whirlwind Recordings.”
