3rd June 2013: 4 Star Review by Jazzwise PLUS Glowing Review by The Jazz Breakfast + Feature on UK Jazz Radio for our Latest Release by Sam Crowe – ‘Towards the Centre of Everything’
Jazzwise have recently announced our latest release by Sam Crowe as “thoroughly recommended” in a recent review whereby they gave the album 4 stars, claiming that “Sam Crowe looks like a young man with a big future as a bandleader” and “an open-minded contemporary musician but with a love of soulful, song-like melody.”
Towards the centre of everything, for those who may have missed out, is Sam’s second solo release and his first with Whirlwind Recordings, and features a great array of musicians from both London and New York, including: Sam Crowe (piano, rhodes, keyboards, compositions), Will Vinson (alto saxophone), Adam Waldmann (soprano saxophone), Will Davies (guitar), Alan Hampton (double and electric bass), Mark Guiliana (drums) and special guest Emilia Martensson (vocals).
The Jazz Breakfast have also given the album a glowing review, describing it as music that “challenges the way the establishment, and modern life, wishes to commodify art” continuing to say that “I feel a real passion for this album, and in part that is for the selfish reason that it just makes me feel so damned good”. The review ends with “Want to be cheered up? Want out of the corrupt, soulless, commodified, unfeeling, number-obsessed, money fixated, fearful, prejudiced superficiality that is today’s Western existence? Buy Towards The Centre Of Everything, press play and escape to a wholly better world!”
The title track was featured on UK Jazz Radio last week, and can be heard again here.
