26th February 2019: Tori Freestone to release new trio album (Tim Giles, Dave Manington) ‘El Mar de Nubes’ – May 31
We’re pleased to announce that later this spring Tori Freestone will release her third trio album with Whirlwind El Mar de Nubes – a follow up to the highly acclaimed In The Chophouse (2014) and El Barranco (2016).
Showcasing her unique writing style which takes inspiration from the chordless trios of the moment infused with sounds from her roots in folk the new release also has Latin and Brazilian elements influenced by spending much of her youth and adult life in the Canary Islands where she composed the album.
Tori plays these compositions with her signature melodic yet robust approach showcasing the incredible rapport and interaction between her and long time colleagues Tim Giles (drums) and Dave Manington (bass). This new recording offers hard driving and free jazz through Brazilian and folk influences to Cuban inspired music and takes the level of interaction between the three musicians to new heights.
